Our Ripstop Crate Mats are designed for ultimate comfort, durability and to fit standard crate sizes making them the perfect addition to your pet’s crate. Made from tough, water-resistant 380 denier Ripstop fabric, these mats are built to withstand the rigors of every-day use while keeping your pet comfortable and supported. Inside is 10cm thick high-quality Australian foam treated with Ultra-Fresh to keep odours at bay.

Ripstop fabric is a durable fabric that is made using a special reinforcing technique that makes it resistant to tearing and ripping. It’s often used in making products for the outdoors such as sails, tents, sleeping bags, flags and banners to name a few. It will stand up well to dogs that are tough on their beds but it is not indestructible. If your dog chews or scratches destructively no soft dog bed will be a match for them.

Crate Mat Fit Guide
Our Crate Beds are designed to sit inside your crate’s tray/base and therefore may sit a couple of centimetres off each side wall.
Trays have slightly raised edges and many have curved corners, so beds are intentionally a little narrower than crates for an easy, snug fit across standard-sized crates.
*How to measure
- Measure the usable floor area inside the tray (length x width).
- If your tray has curved corners, measure width and length at the narrowest points where the curve begins.
- Pick the mat size that matches or is up to 1–3 cm smaller than your tray measurements.
- Between sizes? Choose the smaller size for the easiest fit.

Getting the Right Fit
Crate mats for dogs only work if they fit the crate, which is why ours are available in four sizes (30″, 36″, 42″ and 48″) to match standard crate dimensions from Small (69 × 42cm) to Jumbo (113 × 66cm). Because tray sizes vary slightly between crate brands, it’s worth measuring your crate’s floor area before ordering. Our sizing section above walks you through exactly how to measure and pick the right size, so your new mat sits snugly rather than curling up at the edges or leaving gaps.
Designed For Comfort & Cleanliness
Each crate mat for dogs is built from 100mm of high-quality Australian Dunlop foam for optimal support, wrapped in a tough 380-denier ripstop cover. The cover is water-resistant, so accidents, drool and muddy paws bead off rather than soaking in, and it’s treated with Ultra-Fresh antimicrobial protection to help keep odours and mould at bay.
Best of all, the cover unzips completely, so when it needs a wash, you simply remove it and pop it in the machine.
Built Tough For Playful Pups
Ripstop fabric is designed to resist tearing and is a step up for dogs that are hard on their bedding. But like any soft dog crate mat, it’s not indestructible. If your dog is a determined chewer or scratcher, no fabric-covered mat will fully withstand that.

It’s water-resistant rather than fully waterproof. The 380 denier ripstop cover is treated to resist moisture, so it handles spills, drool and toileting accidents without soaking through to the foam. It’s not designed to be submerged or hosed out like a fully sealed waterproof product, but for everyday crate use it holds up well.
Ripstop material can be wiped down with a damp cloth between machine washes. When it needs a deeper clean, unzip and remove the ripstop cover and throw it in the washing machine. This is the easiest way to keep the crate mat fresh. The foam insert itself isn’t machine washable, but the water-resistant cover protects it from most day-to-day messes, and you can spot-clean or wipe the foam down with a damp cloth if required.
The ripstop cover is chew-resistant and holds up better than standard fabric against everyday scratching and general wear, but it’s not chew-proof. If your dog is a heavy, determined chewer, no soft crate mattress will stand up to that behaviour long-term, so it’s worth being realistic about your dog’s habits before choosing this style of mat.
